Games & Gifts Galore Upcoming Schedule Changes (April 2008)

Effective presently, Games & Gifts Galore customers should observe the following upcoming schedule changes:

  • For the week of April 14-20 2008, Games & Gifts Galore will be open 3-10 Thursday & Friday, and 11-10 Saturday & Sunday. Star Wars Miniatures will be running on Thursday, as will all other regularly scheduled Thursday events.
  • For the week of April 21-27 2008, Games & Gifts Galore will be open extended hours, as most public schools will be home for Spring Recess. The store will be open Monday-Wednesday 5-10, Thursday-Friday 3-10, and Saturday-Sunday 11-10. We apologize for not opening earlier on the weekdays, but keep in mind that private schools and most colleges are still in session during this week.
  • Also to observe the fact that the store will be open for extended hours starting April 21st, the Summer Gaming Olympics will officially begin (for point-collecting) on Monday April 21st. Full details for the Summer Gaming Olympics (as well as clearer insight into what to expect for the Summer Grand Tournament in August) will be released by April 28th.
  • Sundays April 20th and 27th, Roger will not be able to run his regularly scheduled Mutants & Masterminds roleplaying session from 3-5PM, and he will return on Sunday May 4th.
  • Sundays April 20th and 27th, in Roger's absence, in place of the regularly scheduled Mutants & Masterminds roleplaying sessions, there will be One-Shot Roleplaying Adventures hosted by Games & Gifts Galore's staff. For more details, see here.
  • All roleplaying sessions on Sundays have been shifted around to conform to a new standard. For more details, see the weekly RPG calendar.
  • This coming Sunday April 20th will see the rescheduled Pogs Tournament that was cancelled this past Sunday April 13th.
  • Finally, due to an abhorrible failure of the attempted revival of Chris's Saturday-night D&D campaign this past Saturday April 12th, the campaign will officially cease to run, as well as cease claim to all future rights of usage of the Saturday-night roleplaying time-slot it occupied. The time slot will be active again for roleplaying on Saturday April 26th (Because Saturday the 19th will be occupied by the Spring Grand Tournament); the vacancy in this time slot first triggered for the time slot to be offered to other (current) roleplaying GMs (in order of seniority from when they first ran roleplaying events at Games & Gifts Galore), and the Saturday 5-10 timeslot has been claimed by Lorraine for her World of Darkness campaign. Her current time slot (Sunday 5-10) has, in following, been claimed by John for his D&D campaign. John's current time slot has been Thursdays 5-10 (though it has been obstructed lately due to the store's state of being closed on Thursdays), and this Thursday 5-10 time slot is now vacant. Any current GM who wishes to move their game to this time slot should e-mail gamesgiftgalore@optonline.net with "Thursday Roleplaying" in the subject header. New GMs wishing to start up a game in this slot should e-mail as well, but should understand that current GMs' requests will take precedence (though eventually there will be exactly one vacant slot, and any new GMs who send e-mail requests will be considered for this time slot in the order in which their requests were received). Again, due to the Spring Grand Tournament, these changes cannot take effect on Saturday the 19th, and will instead take effect on Saturday the 26th; As a result, Lorraine will be running World of Darkness on Sunday the 20th and then again on Saturday the 26th. John will take over the Sunday slot on the 27th. The Thursday slot is available effective immediately, as John has expressed his wish to wait until he can run on Sundays before beginning to run again.

Games & Gifts Galore Under New Management (April 2008)

Effective presently, Games & Gifts Galore has undergone a change in management. Fear not, for the friendly, familiar faces you're so fond of will not change, save for the following: Dov Frier, founder of Games & Gifts Galore will no longer be with the store in his previous capacity, though he assures us that whenever possible, he will maintain a strong presence on our tournament scene. Though Dov can never really be replaced, to compensate for the loss of him as a member of the Games & Gifts Galore team, there will be a few additions to our staff in the upcoming days or weeks, so keep your eyes open for them, and please extend every courtesy to them as you would to the current staff.

Also in the upcoming weeks and months there will be some additional slight changes around Games & Gifts Galore, this new and improved website being the first. Check back here frequently for updates on any potential changes to the event scheduling, store hours, and new promotions coming soon.

Thank you for choosing Games & Gifts Galore as your local gaming store.

About Games & Gifts Galore

Games & Gifts Galore is first and foremost a gaming/hobby/entertainment store, but is also a pioneer as a facility for promoting educational ideals through entertainment. Founded in 2006 by Dov Frier, a New York State certified teacher of American History in Lawrence School District, Games & Gifts Galore has been striving unwaveringly to bring the educational foundations of hobby gaming to mainstream audiences through our many events and programs such as our revolutionary Game Camp program, which you can learn more about here on our website. We also offer a discount to students who bring in their most recent Report Card with all A's and B's, as an incentive for our regular customers to always remember to put schoolwork first and gaming second. Games & Gifts Galore has sent representatives to speak about the educational benefits of games at schools and Boy Scout events, and has sent Gift Certificate donations to schools and other educational organizations in the past; For the near future, we have plans for a new fundraising partnership program to help support local school groups, starting in the Fall of 2008.

Games & Gifts Galore hosts weekly tournaments on many different game systems, as well as hosting occasional Premier-Level events for some of those game systems. There are several weekly Role-playing groups that meet in our store, as well. For more information on these events and others, see our calendar and event pages.

Games & Gifts Galore, in addition to carrying a wide variety of board games, collectible card and miniature games, and various accessories, also carries a huge supply of used media, including used DVDs, VHS tapes, BetaMax tapes, music CDs, PC games, various video game consoles and games, back-issue comic books, novels, and more. We buy and resell collections of all of these items and more, for store credit or cash. Call or bring in your collection, or first check our Trade-In page for more details. We do not accept adult films or other adult entertainment items.

Games & Gifts Galore is conveniently located at 3937 Merrick Road in Seaford, NY, in the Seaford Cinemas complex, between restaurants The Brown Osprey and Cara Mia Due.
